Wildflower and Meadow Garden Designs in Otford and Chelsfield
These wildflower and meadow garden designs in Chelsfield and Otford use wildflower turf and a wildflower seed mix as an understorey for orchard trees. Using wildflowers in a garden is a great way to encourage wildlife by creating different habitats and food sources. They create a more natural landscape and can be extremely colourful with different shapes, forms and textures that give interest from spring right through to late summer/early autumn.
Chelsfield Wildflower Garden
A newly constructed German home replaced the existing 1900’s house and the overgrown garden was cleared of everything except some beautiful mature trees. The owner wished to bring wildlife into the garden so wildflower turf from Meadowmat ( www.meadowmat.com ) was laid alongside Core Gravel ( www.coregravel.co.uk ) and brick paths. An orchard of fruit and Cobnut trees will be added later into the wildflower lawn area.
Wildflower Meadow and Orchard in Otford
Mature holly and conifer trees were replaced with new orchard apple and pear trees planted with an understorey of wildflowers sown using a wildflower seed mix. This created a more natural landscape more in tune with the surrounding area with billowing swathes of white oxeye daisies and other perennials that give colour, texture and form.
